|REVIEW| Swissvita Acne Soothing Cleansing Cream: It Doesn't Dry!

Swissvita Acne cleanser review

IT WENT HAYWIRE!
Not sure if I mentioned this before but my face has been breaking out crazily ever since I started working in the audit line. I have trouble maintaining my stress level and it has taken a toll on my complexion. So I went on a quest to search for the right skincare routine to fit my new skin condition.  I think it's most proper for me to start with a cleanser. So, I gave the Swissvita Acne Soothing Cleansing Cream a try.

Bolded are the good/star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 4 & above under 'Safety index' in by EWG. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) are more likely to cause acne than those without.

The Good Ones
For those that I've put in a link (those in red), you can straight away click in to read them under "The Good Ones" for their specifics.

Let's start with Citric Acid. This is an anti-ageing ingredient together with Niacinamide, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbic Acid and Tartaric Acid. Both Citric Acid and Tartaric Acid are a kind of AHA so they can also act as a pH buffer i.e. to help adjust our skin's acidity. Not just that, it also promotes skin peeling (exfoliation) and re-growth which is why it is frequently used in anti-aging products.

The ingredient list. Swissvita is a Taiwanese brand that's why you're seeing its 'how to use' in mandarin.

The Good Ones (cont'd)
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, like Niacinamide, can brighten up skin tone. Its anti-oxidant properties make it a great anti-ageing ingredient. The reason is because it is a derivative of Vitamin C and is considered to be a very stable precursor of Vitamin C. With both this, Ascorbic Acid and Citric Acid, in the list, Swissvita definitely knows what is best for its acne plagued beauty lovers!

Propylene Glycol is very moisturising especially for dry skin peeps. The most important thing that I always take note of for a cleanser is that it cannot dry out my skin. The tightening feel that accompanies every wash of my skin is unbearable. But with this, Panthenol and Glycerin, it sounds like I'm not going to get the uncomfortable feeling? Read on to find out!

It comes with a very hygienic design with a screwing cap.

The Bad Ones
PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate is a synthetic polymer based on PEG (polyethylene glycol) and fatty acids derived from coconut oil. Due to the presence of PEG, this ingredient may contain potentially toxic manufacturing impurities such as 1,4-dioxane.

Phenoxyethanol can potentially cause skin and lung irritation so if you know that your skin has not dealt well with Phenoxyethanol in the past, do skip this!

I do not encourage anyone to use Salicylic Acid on a daily basis. Some of you may be sensitive to it, and if you use it regularly, you may end up with skin that is dry, red, and peeling. But Salicylic Acid is the most used ingredient for acne. It can reduce the inflammation and help your skin recover faster. Just take note that you should quickly use a moisturiser on top of it and avoid using it with other skin-drying product(s) to prevent further drying out your skin!

The Bad Ones (cont'd)
Malic acid is also a kind of AHA. I believe it has been highlighted by EWG simply because it can also act as a fragrance. Anyhoo, to avoid skin problems, just patch test this cleanser before you start using it on your whole face. It's better to be safe than sorry!

IT SMELLS FAMILIAR
When I first opened it up, I was greeted with a little foil paper that sealed the opening. Carefully peeling it open, a very familiar smell hit my nose. Doesn't this smell like the Innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mousse Mask? I was intrigued. Because they have little to none similarity in terms of ingredients and the smell is just too similar! So I had a good first impression there.

Mixed it with and some water and am now trying to rub those makeup off my skin gently.

BUT WHAT ABOUT...
Becoming really impatient, I immediately put on some makeup and started using this Cleansing Cream from Swissvita to clean it. The cream came out more watery but less foamy than I expected. I couldn't use it with my cleansing brush due to its creamy texture but that is not really something I'd be bothered about. In fact, I quite like the texture. It did not tug on my skin as long as mix it with enough water.

Oops, those waterproof makeups are too strong for it!

THE MOMENT OF TRUTH
It's time to wash off the cream. There are two things I need to know. One, if it cleans off normal makeup sufficiently well and two, if it dries out my skin. It passed test one and two with an A+! Not only it managed to remove the BB cream I had on my face, it also did not dry my skin out nor gave me the tightening feel. This is how a good cleanser should behave! *My heart did a little backflip over there to exclaim its happiness for discovering this cleanser, thank you Swissvita!*

Well, at least it left no BB cream nor concealer (I use this on a daily basis!) behind.

IT WORKS WONDER
I told you my skin wasn't in its best state and it had been like that for weeks. Ever since I started using this Acne Soothing Cleansing Cream two weeks ago, my skin condition has improved a little. I've combined it with the By Wishtrend TECA 1% Barrier Cream to give the maximum care to my troubled skin. Do take note that everyone's skin condition is different so your skin may react differently to this cleansing cream, e.g. a little drying or so. Again, patch testing is the key!

This is suitable for oily and combination skin type.

HOW TO USE?
According to Swissvita, you are supposed to first add water to it and lather it before gently massaging it on a wet face. I always slap it on first before adding water haha. But as long as it works! Once you opened the tube (love the hygienic design a lot!), you are advised to finish it within 6 months to ensure the product performs at its maximum efficacy. With day and night usages (p.s. I'm only using it at night though), this shouldn't be an issue since it only comes with 100g.

IT MATTERS
I seriously believe the right acne face wash can make a big difference in unclogging pores and telling pimples to scram. So make sure you get a good one that can clean out dead skin cells and oils that clog pores. Clogged pores (dead cells + oils) + bacteria are the best concoction for acne so we want to make sure those things never get to become friends on our face! I think I have a pretty good odds there with this medical-grade product!

The heavily anticipated before and after photo:

Noticed how those old acnes have shrunken and almost gone? I had some new ones popping up due to stress but look at the one near my brow, it's totally gone!

WHO SHOULD GET?
Oily and combination skin type peeps, this is meant for us. It is able to help balance our hyperactive oil glands especially in the T-zone. I personally have combination skin type and I have dry cheeks that can easily feel tightened with most cleansers. But not with this one even though it contains Salicylic Acid! That's why I don't mind using it all over my skin to help return my skin to a better state. Highly recommend as it is a good facial wash for our acnes and I will definitely repurchase once I run out!
